Chairman’s Corner

Hello Welding Community,

I hope this finds everyone in good spirits. Our last Tidewater Section meeting was held February 7th. Al Sherrill traveled from Miller Electric in Appleton Wisconsin to do a presentation on how induction heating is used in the welding industry.

Our next section meeting is going to be another interesting one. We have our own Greg Pike speaking to our section about welding to Navy specifications. This is a must attend meeting if you, or your employer currently does, or wishes to do welding for the Navy or Newport News Shipbuilding. Greg will speak to us about his experience in dealing with subcontractors who perform welding procedures to Navy specifications and discuss what is expected to meet these specifications. I feel certain, that anyone who attends this talk, will leave with a better understanding of what they need to do to prepare for welding on the ships that protect our freedom.

We hope that you will attend this meeting on the 14th of March at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton.

Doug Carpenter
Tidewater Section Chairman
