September 9, 2021 – Wintzell’s Oyster House – Mobile, AL
The Mobile Section kicked off their first meeting for 2021-22 at Winzell’s Oyster House in downtown Mobile. There were 33 in attendance. Immediate Past Chair of the Mobile Section, Jody Heusman conducted the meeting.
Dalton Lehman was recognized for being selected as this years recipient of the Paul “Jerry” Betts Memorial Scholarship.
It was a surreal evening as we honored the legacy of Mr. Ron Pierce who passed away earlier this year. Guest speakers included family, friends & co-workers celebrating his 60 years as an AWS member, longtime AWS Mobile Section Executive Committee Member, as well as a Past AWS National President. Mr. Pierce was a great leader and mentor in the welding community and will be missed by many. The Mobile Section was blessed to have him as a member of the section for so many years.
A special thanks goes to Monica Pfarr, Executive Director of the AWS Foundation, for taking the time to visit and join us at the meeting. Monica gave a great presentation and overview of the AWS Foundation initiatives and programs, workforce development and career resources.
We ended the evening with drawings for some door prizes.
