Grace Wilferd is an 11th grade welding student at Northern Westmoreland CTC in New Kensington, PA. Grace competed at SkillsUSA in the Job Demonstration A category giving a technical presentation with a guided bend tester on becoming a certified welder. She won Gold at the State Championship in April and will now be headed to the Nationals for SkillsUSA! Prior to winning the gold, she finished in first at the District level competition held in Western PA in January.Grace holds multiple welding certifications, but she really enjoys the art and technical aspects welding has to offer. Everyone knows that having the skillsets to be able to consistently produce code quality welds is the bread and butter of our industry. But there is so much more our field encompasses. Grace is a shining example regarding the myriad of career paths that serve to assure the strength and future of our great industry!
