Ladies and Gentlemen,
Come join the AWS North Texas Section and Mr. Wayne Tuttle, Director of Welding Technology and Mission Assurance, as he presents “Crazy things I never thought I would see or do in a Career in Welding.”
Wayne has spent his career in the Aircraft, Automotive, Nuclear, Launch Vehicles, propellant and pressurant tanks for satellites and space vehicles, tube mills, underwater fiberoptic cables, and weird weapons systems industries. He’s been working in the application of technology into welding processes. His experiences are primarily in GTAW, PAW, VPPA, LBW AND EBW. He has consulted for both government and industry in North America, Europe, and Asia. He has seen a lot of weird stuff and loves to talk about it.
Wayne has written a dozen technical papers, several articles in the Welding Journal and Welding Design and Fabrication.
Meeting Details We will be meeting at the Saltgrass Steakhouse at 2200 E. Lamar Blvd. Arlington, TX 76006. Do not forget to bring your donations for Irving Cares (a division of the North Texas Food Bank). Bring 2 cans or boxes of non-perishable food items and receive a raffle ticket for a drawing at the end of the meeting.
Tim Hatten Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser The North Texas Section is hosting its 7th annual Tim Hatten Memorial Scholarship Sporting Clays Fundraiser again on June 18th, 2022, Father’s Day Saturday. Tickets will be available beginning March 28th, station sponsorships are available for those who want to sponsor a shooting station and bring clients to the event. Section Scholarships The Tim Hatten CWI/CWEng Scholarship is available for all North Texas Section Members who are interested in advancing their carriers and taking the next step. Visit the North Texas website at https://awssection.com/northtexas/scholarships/ to print out the application. Return a copy to Nazdhia and to the North Texas Section at [email protected] for committee review. We are offering up to two (2) scholarships annually, this is a $2500.00 package for qualified individuals.
Section student scholarships are also available, they are due April 1st. Each year we award at least two (2) North Texas section students $500.00 each towards their school tuition. Send us an email at [email protected] and I’ll email you the form.
Texas High School Welding Series Competition The North Texas Section is assisting with the Texas High School Welding Series Competition (TXHSWS) this year. The next event is scheduled for April 9th at Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center at 2101 Browning Dr., Arlington, TX 76010 (see the TXHSWS website at https://sites.google.com/view/txhsws/txhsws for details). We’ll be asking for volunteers to assist with the competition, we need CWI’s to provide visual inspections, volunteers to monitor booths and keep time on the competitors and various other duties. If you would like to volunteer for a few hours to help or perhaps your company would like to set up a job fair booth at the event, please contact us at [email protected].
