Ladies and Gentlemen,

Come join the AWS North Texas Section and AWS Vice President Mr. Michael (Mike) Krupnicki as he presents “Current Initiatives to improve the AWS Volunteer Experience.”

Mike has spent his career in the Welding Supply and Industrial gas business. He started his career at Mahany Welding Supply in 1982, purchased the company from his family in 2008, and recently sold it to Airgas in 2019. He currently holds the position ofVice President – Advanced Fabrication for the Airgas Northeast Region. Mike is an AWS Life Member and spent many years actively volunteering for the Rochester Section and as a CWI Test Site Supervisor.

Mike is also the founder and owner of the Rochester Arc + Flame Center (www.rocafc.com). The Arc + Flame Center is a unique training business that focuses on welder training for all levels of interest, but also offers classes in blacksmithing, blade smithing, copper smithing, and the warm glass arts.

Mike and his wife Joanie have two grown children. He earned his MBA from the Rochester Institute of Technology. When Mike is not working or volunteering, he enjoys golf, dinner and cards with friends, and cruising the countryside in his stingray convertible.

Meeting Details

We will be meeting at the Saltgrass Steakhouse at 2200 E. Lamar Blvd. Arlington, TX 76006. Dinner at 6:15 and the meeting begins at 7:00 pm. Zoom meeting details are below.

Do not forget to bring your donations for Irving Cares (a division of the North Texas Food Bank). Bring 2 cans or boxes of non-perishable food items and receive a raffle ticket for a drawing at the end of the meeting.

Section Scholarships

The Tim Hatten CWI/CWEng Scholarship is available for all North Texas Section Members who are interested in advancing their carriers and taking the next step. Visit the North Texas website at https://awssection.com/northtexas/scholarships/ to print out the application. Return a copy to Nazdhia and to the North Texas Section at [email protected] for committee review. We are offering up to two (2) scholarships annually, this is a $2500.00 package for qualified individuals.

Texas High School Welding Series Competition

The North Texas Section is assisting with the Texas High School Welding Series Competition (TXHSWS) this year. The next event is scheduled for April 9th at Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center at 2101 Browning Dr., Arlington, TX 76010 (see the TXHSWS website at https://sites.google.com/view/txhsws/txhsws for details). We’ll be asking for volunteers to assist with the competition, we need CWI’s to provide visual inspections, volunteers to monitor booths and keep time on the competitors and various other duties. If you would like to volunteer for a few hours to help or perhaps your company would like to set up a job fair booth at the event, please contact us at [email protected].

March Meeting

Our March meeting is scheduled for March 29th, and we’ll be at the Saltgrass Steakhouse at 2200 E. Lamar Blvd., Arlington, TX 76006.
