Greetings North Texas Section Members!
It’s a New Year which means its time to focus on the future. This month’s meeting will be presented by Mark Joseph from Trinity Industries. She will be sharing about Trinity Industries and the products they produce. Trinity is a major hiring force when it comes to welding in North Texas. This will be a great opportunity to learn about a potential employer for new welders entering the industry. Join us for a great meeting!

In case you missed it.
Last month we held our Annual Silent Auction to raise money for our North Texas Scholarship Fund. This year we raised over $3100! The funds raised will go toward North Texas Students to go to school for welding related career training. Thank you to all of the sponsors, donors of the items, the attendees who bid on the items, and to Lincoln Tech for letting us have our meeting in their facility.

February’s Meeting is going to be a very special one. AWS President, Dale Flood will be visiting North Texas. Mark your calendars for February 20th! We will have our meeting at Lincoln Tech’s campus: 2915 Alouette Dr, Grand Prairie, TX 75052. More to come in next month’s newsletter.

Scholarships are now open!
Visit AWS.org to apply for several AWS Scholarships that can be used to go to school, take your CWI Seminar, take AWS classes online, and more! Deadlines are February 15th for national scholarship, March 1st for District and Section Scholarships and some have no deadline! Tim Hatten Memorial CWI Scholarship!
This scholarship is for those of you who meet the minimum qualification to become CWIs. It will cover the cost of your exam while the you serve as the section representative in the seminar getting the knowledge and books for no cost. This is a great opportunity for the growth you’re looking for in your career.

Radnor Starter Welder’s Kit Raffle Fundraiser.
We are selling tickets for a Radnor Starter Welder’s Kit! For $5 you can buy a ticket for the drawing to be held at our May meeting. This kit is valued at $300 and includes a hood, grinding shield, cutting goggles, gloves, chipping hammer, wire brush and several other tools every welder needs. These tickets are on sale up until the drawing. All of the funds raised will go toward our Tim Hatten Memorial CWI Scholarship.
