Recap: February 2026 Nashville Section Technical Meeting

Date of Event: 02/12/2026

Location: Tennessee College of Applied Technologies Lebanon TN, Campus

Number of Attendees: 27

Presenter/Notable Guest(s): Presenter – Duane Morrison, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Inspection with Bureau Veritas / Lochinvar, Lebanon, TN

Event Summary: Duane Morrison, a Bureau Veritas ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (B&PVC) inspector working at Lochinvar LLC and AWS Nashville Section Treasurer, was on hand to educate all in attendance on the generation, understanding, and proper use of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Performance Qualification Records (WPQ). Attendees were required to generate a WPS, and students were required to set up machines in their shop using the WPS they generated after Duane’s technical discussion. Duane did a great job, and the Nashville Section appreciates his sharing his knowledge with us.
Additional topics of discussion concerned shielding gas options for the welding of heavy wall carbon steel using the GMAW process, and the AWS grant application processes.
Thanks go out to welding instructors Amanda Adams and Josh Higgins, as well as the Lebanon TCAT campus leadership for hosting the Nashville Section meeting.
