The Nashville Section of the American Welding Society has two great learning opportunities on tap for the Thursday, February 16, 2023, hybrid meeting. The night will start with Gerald Austin. Gerald is a CWI, Welding Educator, and Holston Valley Section Chairman, who will educate attendees on the subject of welder qualification. Gerald, in addition to his skill set listed above, also manages the Accredited Test Facility at the Greene Technology Center, so Gerald can definitely help you understand the Welder Certification process. Next up will be Heath Jackson and “Nate the Welding Engineer”, of National Standard, a welding wire manufacturer in business since 1907. Heath and Nate will be educating attendees on the GMAW process including welding wire selection, and what it takes to produce a high quality GMAW weld. The discussion will take us through basic fundamentals like welding variables, and take us through the visual inspection process, before, during, and after welding. See you Thursday night. |
