Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to everyone!
Did you ever think that video games and welding went together? Come to our January meeting and see how Miller Electric has merged the two technologies together to develop a training/testing system designed for welding. Ryan O’Dell, Industrial District Manager, of Miller Electric will be our presenter for the night. Ryan will share with us Miller Electric’s efforts to assist with furthering the training and education of our next generation of welders. He will provide us with a live demonstration of the equipment and detailed descriptions of how it is being used in both the classroom and industry today.
Students
Come and try the weld simulation equipment. A special prize will be awarded to the student with the highest score!
This January meeting is our “Awards Night”, where we will recognize some of our distinguished members for their service to our welding community. Come join us in congratulations as we recognize our CWI of the Year, Educator of the Year, Instructor of Year, and Meritorious recipient of the year.
January coincides with the opening of our scholarship portal. Our scholarship chairman will provide us with a brief description of what scholarships are available and how to apply. The online application portal is now open at: www.aws.org/foundation/page/scholarships. The deadline to apply for scholarships is March 1st.
Instructors
Please post this meeting notice in an area around your school that is easily accessible to your welding students. As we are moving to Eventbrite for registration, students will need to start registering themselves to attend. You are more than welcome to forward them this meeting notice, but even easier simply print it out and they can scan the above QR Code with their phone to link to our Eventbrite registration page.
