John Pariseau of the US Army Corp of Engineers -Understanding Hydrogen Cracking

John Pariseau will be presenting on Understanding Hydrogen Cracking-

 

A brief tutorial for both welders and inspectors on what hydrogen cracking is and how its prevented.  This talk will also help explain the steps taken to mitigate hydrogen infusion into the weld metal through code applications and dispel myths surrounding some welding tribal knowledge.

 

John began his carrier in the welding industry as a United States Marine where he was trained in the Military Occupational Specialty of 1316 “Metal Worker”. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps John attended the College of Oceaneering in Wilmington California where upon completion he obtained an AAS in Marine Technology as well as technical certifications in Commercial Diving, Underwater Welding and Nondestructive Testing. John has worked in many aspects of the welding industry including underwater, vertical construction, bridge, pressure vessel and hydraulic structures. John is an AWS Senior Certified Welding Inspector, AWS Certified Radiographic Interpreter, ASNT Level III in UT, MT, PT & VT, ICC Master Special Inspector and a NACE Level 3 Certified Coating Inspector. Currently John is employed by the US Army Corps of Engineers in Portland Oregon. He is the lead quality assurance inspector and subject matter expert for the USACE Welding & Metallurgy Technical Center of Expertise. In addition to his work with the COE he is a volunteer member of the AWS Certification Committee and B2 Methods of Inspection Committee along with several subcommittees.
