The AWS Cleveland Section offers members the opportunity to learn about the history of
welding consumables at this month’s Section meeting. The meeting will be on Tuesday, January 8th at 6 pm at the Toscana Party Center in Cuyahoga Heights, OH.

Marie Quintana, an independent consultant in the welding industry, will discuss the history of welding consumables. Marie’s will discuss the evolution of welding consumables and equipment that led to electrodes being mass produced. The presentation will also cover consumable design and the progression of consumables used in early repairs to the acceptance of welding by the steel industry. Marie’s talk will primarily focus on the history of carbon steel stick electrodes.

Marie currently works as an independent consultant for companies in the welding industry. Prior to being a consultant, she worked for Electric Boat and the Lincoln Electric Company. She also serves on several AWS Technical committees.

Meeting attendees can get one PDH credit for attending the meeting. Be sure to get a form filled out so the PDH can be used for a CWI renewal.

The meeting will start at 6 pm with a networking reception. We need an accurate head count to insure there’s enough meals for everyone. The cost of the dinner is $18 dollars ($10 for students) when reservations are made. Dinner rates are $20 ($11 students) when paying at the door without reservations.

RSVP with Mike Barrett through phone of email. Mike can be contacted at 1-216-383-8345 or [email protected]. Please make your reservation no later than Friday, January 4. We will not be using Eventbrite for reservation, or payment.
