The Washington DC Section of the American Welding Society will be having a tour of the Steamfitters Local 602, and their training facilities, given by Apprentice Director Chris Madello.

Please wear close toed shoes.

Steamfitters UA Local #602 represents over 5,000 Journeymen, Apprentices and Helpers, who work for roughly 200 Mechanical Construction and Service Contractors, in the Heating, Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Process Piping Industry throughout the Washington, DC Metropolitan area.

All AWS Members, students, instructors, and interested persons welcome!

Pizza and soft drinks will be provided afterwards by the AWS Washington DC Section.

Ironworkers Local 5 Tour

Saturday, October 22nd – 10:00 AM

The Washington DC Section of the American Welding Society will be having a tour of the Ironworkers Local 5, and their brand new, state of the art training facilities, given by Joe Kearns, Ironworkers Local 5 Apprentice Coordinator with a talk by Ironworkers Apprentice Instructor and Washington, DC Section Chairman, Jimi Hale.

All Members, students, and instructors welcome!

Lunch (to be decided) will be provided afterwards by the AWS Washington DC Section.

The Ironworker trade has been on of the most revered and exciting trades for over a century. Ironworkers are recognized as highly skilled, highly trained and safety conscious tradesmen.

Ironworkers fabricate and construct the structural steel framework of single and multi-story building, stadiums, arenas, hospitals, towers and bridges. Ironworkers place reinforcing bars (rebar), as well as installing post-tensioning systems. They also specialize in finishing building by assembling curtain wall and window wall systems, stairs and handrails, metal doors, sheeting and elevator fronts.
At Ironworkers Local 5, we offer a multi-year Apprenticeship Program in our brand new, state of the art training facility.
