Bill Komlos lectured about his experience in developing welding procedures for non standard materials including Super Duplex Stainless Steel, and a man made metal created for the Mars Rover currently gathering data on the surface of Mars.
Bill walked the group through his process of figuring out what the unknown metal is, what filler metal to use, how to weld it, and the the welding and testing process including documenting a Procedure Qualification Record and using that data to develop a Welding Procedure Specification.
