I would first off like to say that this is a family friendly event, and everyone is welcome at all events planned or unplanned… You as our volunteers put a ton of time into our sections and this is a way that we can give back a little. This time that we all spend donating to our sections is time that we could have with our families and is one of the main reasons this is family oriented it is also a way for our families to see all the good hard work we do put in pays off in scholarships, social events and just helping our welding community. So please enjoy have some fun and I look forward to speaking to each and everyone of you soon…
- Spouse’s and Guests will have vouchers for Breakfast on Saturday as well as conference room from 11am to 1pm where they will have a menu to order from and be able to socialize with other spouse’s and have some lunch. If any guests want to join the group for the Tour at the College feel free to join us…
Our more detailed schedule is below, please reach out if something doesn’t look right. And just to be clear on attendance the only event that is required for our section leadership to attend is the Actual Conference on Saturday morning but obviously we want you to attend as many as you can.

Arrival: Holiday Inn Rapid City Downtown.
Section Meeting: Social Event at Murphy’s Pub & Grill @5:30 pm
Friday, June 7th, 2024
- Arrival: Additional attendees arriving.
- Morning Tour: Western Dakota Tech Tour at 8:00 am.
- Lunch: At Crazy Horse at 12 noon. Dance show at 11:30 am and music at 12:30 pm. Note: Not organized (no reservations).
- Evening Social: Holiday Inn Rapid City Downtown Dinner, drinks, and socializing @5:00 pm.
- Room Details will be provided at hotel check-in or by signage.
- Children’s Room: A separate room for kids to watch movies or play games.
Saturday, June 8th, 2024
- District 16 Conference: Held at South Dakota School of Mines. @ 8:00am

- SDSM Tour: Featuring Friction Stir Welding and Cold Spray process.
- Mount Rushmore: informal dinner with ice cream and a light show to follow. @6:00pm
