Event Summary: The Section held its annual joint AWS / ASNT meeting. The meeting started with dinner for all in attendance, catered by Cooked Goose in Oakdale, PA. A presentation was given by Daniel Craigo, the Section Manager M&P-NDI at Northrop Grumman. Daniel is a Nondestructive Testing (NDT) professional with over 19 years of experience, with a reputation as a trusted leader and technical expert. His presentation was on Nondestructive Testing of Welds in Additive Manufacturing: Challenges and Solutions. The presentation covered specific challenges faced when performing NDT on welds and utilizing AWS code to perform those inspection methods and possible solutions, as well as some advancements in artificial intelligence-based analysis and how that could shape how we qualify the inspections in the future. Daniel also provided samples for everyone to view, of pieces that were welded via Plasma Arc Welding and Laser Wire Welding. The presentation was recorded and saved to the AWS Zoom account and is titled “Pittsburgh – February Technical Meeting”.
