WELDING COMPETITION AND CAREER FAIR

WHEN: Saturday, April 7th, 10 AM to 2 PM

Join us for the Section’s annual welding competition and career fair!    Have fun competing, watching and networking with companies in need of welders.   Plus, enjoy a delicious BBQ meal combo grilled on site for only $5!

WHERE: Fontana High School Welding Shop
right next to 16260 San Bernardino Ave, Fontana CA
across the street from the baseball field.

COST: Students $5 to compete, $5 Meal Ticket
Instructors $10 to compete, $10 Meal Ticket

All competitors get a t-shirt !

Joint Configuration:
2 x 2 x 1/4 inch angle welded to 4 x 4 x 1/4 inch plate Position: Students 2F

Instructors 2F, 3F, & 4F
Details:
3/16” fillet weld, with 7018 1/8” Welding Rod

Welding Competition Prizes:

Students: 1st Prize Fronius small portable welder, 2nd and 3rd Prizes Welding Gear (included for each person: Welding Hood, Jacket, & Gloves), 4th Prize Tool Bag (with goodies).
Instructors: 1st Prize Fronius small portable welder, 2nd Prize Seat at the 2018 National AWS Instructors Institute at AWS Headquarters in Miami all expenses paid, 3rd Prize Seat at the AWS CWI Seminar hosted by our Section in May or December (your choice) and 4th Prize 2nd Prize $200 cash prize donated by Action Gas & Welding Supply.

Qualifications to compete:

  • a person qualifies as a Student if currently enrolled in a welding program (high school, college, apprenticeship, ROP,  or other educational program). No professional welders can compete.
  • a person qualifies as Instructor if currently teaching welding courses at a welding program (high school, college, apprenticeship or other educational program)

Note: It is recommended that you bring school ID or some type of proof of enrollment. Instructors it is recommended that you bring an employee ID or some type of proof that you are currently teaching welding.
