 Section and District Named Scholarships

David J. Ramseur – Lakeshore Section Scholarship

The David J Ramseur scholarship is named in honor of one of the founding members of the Lakeshore Section (#144) and the longest continuous serving member of the Section Board – nearly forty years, from the Section’s founding until his retirement in 2020.  Originally from Beaver Dam, Dave was an Engineering graduate from the University of Wisconsin, then spent his career in various Engineering capacities at Manitowoc Crane, in Manitowoc, WI.  The David J Ramseur Scholarship endowment was funded shortly before Dave’s retirement from the Board to honor his long-time commitment to the Section and the local community.  The David J Ramseur Scholarship is open to anyone who meets the minimum AWS Foundation scholarship requirements.  Preference is given to students attending 4-year institutions and applicants with higher GPAs.

Ted B. Jefferson Memorial Scholarship

In 1943, Ted Jefferson, then a principal of the Welding Engineer Publishing Company, revised the Welding Encyclopedia for the first time. He edited and published the 11th through 17th editions over a period of 33 years. Ted Jefferson died on July 6, 1988, at the age of eighty.

In honor of Ted Jefferson’s long association and dedication to the Welding Encyclopedia, the American Welding Society renamed the book Jefferson’s Welding Encyclopedia in 1976.

This scholarship is available to all applicants in the District 12 area.

Welder Training Scholarship
For students seeking welder training in a certificate program less than two years in length through a trade school, community college, or other facility providing welder training.
