Presenter/Notable Guest(s): Author Jerome Sinkula reviewed some memories and excerpts from his book “A One Room School From The Head of The Class”. Starting in 1953 and for eight years, Mr. Sinkula attended the very same one room school house that was on the tour.
Event Summary: The annual Past Chair and Ladies Night meeting for the Lakeshore Section included a tour of the Kewaunee Agricultural Heritage Center. The tour included a visit to the restored late 1890s one room schoolhouse and a period correct Town Hall building from the same era. A highlight of the tour of the Heritage Center was a visit to Al’s Blacksmith shop where it was demonstrated how iron was worked into useful products before even stick welding (SMAW) was invented. A dinner was attended after the event.
