The AWS Foundation will award more than $2 million in scholarships in 2022.

The deadline to apply for National, District, and Section Scholarships is March 1. Please note that the Kansas City Section will also award a local scholarship about the May or June time frame, the KC Section will announce an in-person meeting for March where our board members will present more information about the local scholarship. However, if you apply for the main AWS Scholarships, you will also be automatically entered for the KC Local scholarship and no need to reapply. So all the better to apply and meet the March 1 deadline! Go to aws.org/scholarships and apply. Don’t procrastinate, and don’t miss the deadline!

Also, AWS is planning two Leadership Symposiums in 2022. The first event will take place July 24-27, 2022, and the second August 7-10, 2022. Both events will be held in Doral, FL. This will be a great opportunity and learning experience on becoming a leader in AWS and the world of welding. AWS will be selecting up to five students to attend each event. The application for students to apply online for consideration is available at https://www.aws.org/events/detail/leadership-symposium under the “Student Attendee Application” heading.

The AWS Kansas City Section currently serves 483 members across the following area:

In Kansas to include Doniphan, Brown, Jackson, Atchison, Jefferson, Leavenworth, Wyandotte, Johnson, Douglas, Shawnee, Osage, Coffey, Franklin, Miami, Linn, Anderson, Allen and Bourbon Counties. 

In Missouri to include all the counties west of and including Putnam, Sullivan, Linn, Chariton, Howard, Cooper, Moniteau, and Miller, to include all the counties north of and including Camden, Hickory, St. Clair, and Vernon.
