Event Summary: Our AWS Kansas Section had the opportunity to tour the Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline facilities in Hesston, KS, home to their dedicated training center. This site plays an essential role in preparing their teams to safely and effectively manage one of the region’s most important energy networks.
Southern Star operates roughly 5,800 miles of natural gas transmission pipeline across the Midwest and Mid-Continent regions. Since 1904, they’ve built a reputation for delivering clean, safe, and reliable service, and seeing that commitment firsthand was incredible. The training facility showcased the depth of their safety culture, technical expertise, and the extensive preparation required to keep natural gas flowing to homes, schools, and industries throughout our region.
We appreciate Southern Star for opening their doors to our section and sharing insight into the vital work they do every day. It was a fantastic turnout, with students and industry members joining us for an inside look at one of Kansas’ key energy operations.
