Greetings AWS Section Members,
Our section will be touring the Utility Trailer Manufacturing Plant in Glade Spring Virginia to observe their manufacturing practices for trailers. Utility Trailers has been in business for over 100 years and the Glade Springs facility was recently recognized for having manufactured over 100,000 dry box trailers. This would be an interesting event for anyone interested in welding and manufacturing and a great opportunity to network with other welding professionals.
For those who have the opportunity to meet before the tour, we will meet at Giardino Pizzeria & Restaurant 12412 Maple St, Glade Spring, VA.

Remember that scholarships have opened and March 1st is the deadline to apply for National, District, and Section Scholarships. See www.aws.org/foundation/page/scholarships
Keep your eyes open for details related to a Technical Session in the region that will be titled “Welder Qualification Testing Basics”. This will be a session focused assisting organizations interested in performing their own qualification testing but may have a few areas they feel they could stand to gain a little more knowledge. This will be an 8 hour event and will be performed in two sessions. Dates and times are to be decided.
It will soon be time to elect new officers for our section. If you are interested in being considered for an office or other position, please let a current section officer know.
