Members from VT. NH. Mass. RI. Created and ran this second annual “AWS Welding Info Booth” at the 147th Tunbridge Worlds Fair. A four day event, with over 35,000 people from young to old who attended this agricultural fair. Our booth was aimed at educating the public about who AWS is and what we do. Our booth was two sided, one side had AWS info, weld samples, test pieces, code books, and a lincoln v-tec virtual welding simulator( with plasma cut outs for high score prizes ). The other side had live welding / cutting demonstrations. we had local welding supply businesses donate materials for welding. It was a huge success, winning 3rd place for best concession booth. Burt Riendeau from Airgas, supplied the vr welder, Jim Blanchard from Northland Job Corps, donated the plasma cut outs for prizes. Geoff Putnam, lent the equipment trailer, welding equipment, code books and a bend tester. Ray Henderson II supplied the tent. And thanks to all the other dedicated members you spent countless hours talking with the people and doing weld demos. We enlightened alot of people and hope to do it again next year.
