District-Wide Meeting Announcement!Technical Meeting – K-TIG KEYHOLE WELDINGPresentation by: Jason Sherman, VP of Sales and Marketing, North AmericaTuesday, May 11th – 6:00PM EDT |
Presentation Overview: K-TIG is a transformative, industry-disrupting welding technology that seeks to change the economics of fabrication. K-TIG’s high-speed precision technology welds up to 100 times faster than traditional TIG welding, achieving full penetration in a single pass in materials up to 5/8″ in thickness and typically operates at twice the speed of plasma welding. K-TIG works across a wide range of applications and is particularly well suited to corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel, nickel alloys, titanium allows, and most exotic materials. It easily handles longitudinal and circumferential welds on pipes, spooling, vessels, tanks, and other materials in a single pass. Originally developed by CSIRO, K-TIG owns all the rights, title, and interests in and to the proprietary and patented technology and has been awarded Australian Industrial Product of the Year and the DTC Defense Industry Award. The AWS meeting will showcase a walk-through of the K-TIG system as well as a demonstration of a K-TIG weld. We will then discuss some of the key variables in successful K-TIG welds, current research we are able to discuss, and opportunities for fabricators and manufacturers to exploit the technology. We will also, of course, answer questions from attendees. Presenter Bio: Jason Sherman is the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for K-TIG North America. After 15 years of business development experience, mainly in finance, he decided to change course to the tangible and joined an upstream oil and gas company in an operations role. It was there that Jason learned, first hand, the cost of quality and the financial implication of labor delays and equipment failure on project costs. It wasn’t long before Jason caught the welding bug and worked in both business development and operational roles in the industrial sector, largely in field services and contract manufacturing. Understanding that the driving cost factor in manufacturing and service work is labor, Jason spent years studying training programs and technologies that enhance labor efficiencies while advocating for students to join the skilled trades. While Jason will never stop advocating for folks to join the skilled trades, he recognizes that businesses require efficiencies today to compete in the market. With the team at K-TIG, Jason partners with fabricators to rethink their production methods and harness the power of welding automation. He is known for preaching that it is not the big who eat the small in this market, but rather the fast who eat the slow. |
