This scholarship is available to U.S. citizens who live in Washington, Oregon, or Alaska. Canadian citizens who live in British Columbia or Alberta may also apply. Applicants must be a high school graduate or possess a GED equivalent. Applicants shall be enrolled as a student in an AWS District 19 approved welding related educational or training program.<\/p>
Introduction <\/b> To establish a welding related education scholarship named the \u201cJerry Hope Endowment Scholarship\u201d to benefit students and employers in the AWS District 19 region.<\/p>
Purpose <\/strong>The committee members understand the financial challenges involved in pursuit of higher education. By providing this scholarship we hope to alleviate some of these financial hurdles.<\/p>
Eligibility requirements <\/strong>Students seeking a Bachelor of Science or higher degree (anywhere in the United States or Canada) in Welding Engineering; Welding Engineering Technology; or a student seeking Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Materials\/Metallurgical Engineering (preferably with an emphasion welding and\/or the metallurgy of weldable metals) and who possesses either: 2.1.1.1 a 2-year Associate degree in Welding Technology. 2.1.1.2 a 2-year Welding Engineering Technology diploma. 2.1.1.3 a current \u201cRecord or Welder Qualification\u201d in at least one welding process in all positions plus 2-years minimum welding experience. 2.1.1.4 a current \u201cWelding Inspector\u201d certification plus 2-years minimum welding related experience.<\/em><\/p>
