Join AWS Syracuse Section for a tour of Universal Metal Works in Fulton! We are gracious to John Sharkey for offering his facility up for a tour of a state-of-the-art welding/fabrication shop.
Universal Metal Works was established in Fulton, NY in 2010. At Universal Metal Works, a leading metal fabrication facility, experience is our difference. Universal Metal Works presents knowledgeable and trained staff with over 300 years of combined fabrication experience. Universal Metal Works specializes in design and engineering, assembly, complete pre-assembly, and has certified AWS D1-1 Welders. Services at Universal Metal Works include: saw-cutting, water-jet cutting, laser cutting, precision forming, welding/fabrication, machining, assembly, sandblast and paint.
In 2020 Universal Metal Works added a second Mazak 4.0kw laser with a larger 72” X 144” table. In 2021 Universal Metal Works relocated its machine shop in order to increase efficiency and flow. Additionally, two new machines were added. A Mazak VTC 300C-492 vertical mill was added for production work and a Mazak VTC 80030SRKY full 5-axis mill was added for large, tight tolerance custom machining. In 2023 Universal Metal Works added a 350-ton Cincinnati PF+14 Press Brake, with a 16ft. bed, auto-crowning, hydraulic clamping upper and lower clamps, 7-axis CNC controls and precision tooling.
