Event Summary: AWS President Holdren recently visited the Genesee Career Institute to meet with high school welding students and share insights about the American Welding Society, industry code standards, educational opportunities, scholarships, and career pathways in welding. During his visit, President Holdren emphasized the growing demand for skilled welders across the United States and encouraged students to “take the torch” and lead the future of welding and manufacturing in America. The students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and discussing the wide range of opportunities available in the field. As a token of appreciation, students presented President Holdren and his team with student made AWS plaques created by the welding program and in collaboration with the Saginaw Valley Section.
