Event Summary: At Sierra Community College Welding Program in Spring 2025. The Structural Steel Welding Certification -5C course. It was one intense week of prepping plates, welding continuously, and bend testing nonstop. This course has provided students the opportunity to certify in GMAW, FCAW-G, and SMAW in ½” plate, in 3G or/and 4G. There were 41 students certified with multiple certs by CWI’s. This has opened new doors for Sierra students as certified welders in the welding industry. The Welding Instructors Vaughn, Johnson, Roger, Dickison, and Sanchez, who took part in the 5C course, are proud of the students’ achievement.
Sierra College Welding by the Numbers–60 welding booths, 937 students taught this year, 310 weld test plates passed visual inspection, and Over 110 welding certifications earned.
