Hello Section Members,
The American Welding Society Rio Grande Valley Section is announcing a Special Section Election to be held on Thursday, August 20 at 6:30PM at McAllen Careers Institute with BBQ and soft drinks served during the meeting.
Caity Brown, AWS District 18 Director, will be present. We have faced challenges in the past with moving the Section in a positive direction. Caity will be addressing the Section in hopes of helping build momentum and support its continued progress.
Nominations: We will be taking nominations for the current fiscal year (June 1, 2026 – May 31, 2026) for the following roles:

Leads the group and runs meetings

Helps the Chair

Often helps plan event

Writes down what happens at meetings

Keeps track of members and important papers

Sends out meeting notices

Treasurer

Handles the money

Keeps records of spending and income

Gives financial reports

If you are interested in running, please come prepared to talk about your goals for the Section and how your experience will help us move the Section forward.
