The American Welding Society Foundation awards over $2.7 million annually for education and training in welding and related fields!<\/strong><\/p>

Students in the Pittsburgh Section may be eligible for the following scholarships:<\/p>

National, District, and Section Scholarships – Deadline March 1st for the following fall term<\/strong><\/span><\/p>

National Scholarships<\/a>
<\/strong>For students pursuing a specific degree at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university. Scholarships range from $2,500 – $10,000+.
<\/strong><\/p>

District Scholarships<\/a>
<\/strong>A minimum of $15,000 is available in each of AWS’s 22 Districts for students pursuing a degree or certificate in a welding or welding-related program. Scholarships typically range from $1,000 to $2,500+.<\/p>

Section and District Named Scholarships<\/a><\/strong><\/p>

Pittsburgh Section Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>

This scholarship was established to support welding students in certificate, associate degree, or bachelor’s degree programs within the boundaries of the AWS Pittsburgh Section.<\/p>

David L. and Dolly McQuaid Scholarship\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

David McQuaid was AWS President in 2016 and heads D. L. McQuaid and Associates, Inc. He has chaired the AWS D1 Structural Welding and the Technical Activities Committees. In 2009, he received the American National Standards Institute Finegan Standards Medal for his contributions to industry standards.<\/p>

Ed Cable\/Bug-O \u2013 District 7 Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>

This scholarship is sponsored by Bug-O Systems to honor Mr. Cable, and is for a student pursuing a certificate or degree in welding or a related field with an interest in welding automation or mechanization. The student must be full time with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and have an interest in welding automation or mechanization.<\/p>

Women of Gases and Welding \u2013 District 7 Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>

Founded in November 2011, the Women of Gases & Welding (WGW) has a mission to enhance the success of women in the gases and welding industry through advocacy, recruitment, and professional development. Functioning as a committee within GAWDA (Gases and Welding Distributors Association), WGW designs professional development programming for women at national conferences and engages sponsors to support programming and scholarships for women.<\/p>

CraftForce Welding Scholarship<\/strong><\/p>

Welder Training Scholarship<\/strong><\/a>
For students seeking welder training in a certificate program less than two years in length through a trade school, community college, or other facility providing welder training. Each District has a minimum of 25 – $1,000 scholarships to award.<\/p>

Applications are accepted January-November and selections are made on a rolling basis until the District awards the designated funds for the year.<\/p>
