Event Summary: The Pittsburgh section held its annual joint meeting with the Pittsburgh chapter of ASNT. The group enjoyed two presentations during the annual event. The first presentation explained and demonstrated the various technologies and methods available for Portable PMI (Positive Material Identification). John Kurtz the presenter for Hitachi High-Tech provided samples for hands on demonstrations of different hand-held PMI analyzers. After dinner Jeff Irwin provided a presentation about the benefits and differences of Laser Scanning vs. Laser Tracking. The FALK PLI presentation also included a demonstration of Jerrod Bolz wearing the NAVVIS VLX a lightweight wearable 3D laser scanner that allows them to walk thru and scan a facility in hours what used to take days.
