Texas High School Welding Series CompetitionBuild-OffNovember 20thLewisville, TX |
The Texas High School Welding Series organization is holding a “Build-off Competition” in Lewisville Texas at the Northern Tool Store located at 2428B S. Stemmons Fwy, Lewisville, TX 75067. If you missed the high school welding competition in Alvarado last month, this is a great opportunity to come out and see these contestants’ skills firsthand. These are high-school seniors who will be graduating next may and looking for employment, if you are needing young fresh talent in your shop, this is an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up. They need some help with monitoring the competitors, judging and material donations. If you are interested in helping out in any way, contact Eric Pesak at txhsws@gmail.com to coordinate with him. The North Texas Section board attended the competition last month and we had a blast with that event. It was a positively charged event with 156 competitors showing their skills and learning from experts on how to improve their skills. We all know of the shortages in skilled labor, it’s nice to see competitions like this in our field and we need to encourage these youngsters as much as we can. The materials they need donated are: 3/16” plate Here is what they are building: |

These competitions have been going on in the South Texas Section for the past 6 years. Now, it’s our turn here in the North Texas Section to step up to the challenge and provide help and invest in our welding students and show them encouragement. Paul Paul Stanglin |
