Event Summary: The AWS Niagara Frontier Section and Koike recently hosted internationally recognized metal artist and welder David Madero for a special presentation on Metal Art in Welding.
Madero, known to many as a judge and co-host on Netflix’s Metal Shop Masters, shared insight into his creative process, welding techniques, fabrication methods, and the problem solving required to bring large scale metal artwork to life.
During the presentation, Madero spoke about the challenges he has faced in becoming a metal artist and welder. He encouraged attendees to experiment, take creative risks, and be brave when facing obstacles head on. His message reinforced that growth in welding, whether in art, fabrication, or industry, often comes from persistence, hands on learning, and the willingness to push through difficulty.
Attendees also received an exclusive preview of Madero’s latest sculpture ahead of its official premiere at FABTECH 2026 in Las Vegas.
The event gave members an inspiring look at how welding continues to move beyond traditional fabrication and into public art, design, and creative expression.
