Event Summary: The American Welding Society Nebraska Section 81 and The Columbus Nebraska Farm Credit Services Branch donated $5000.00 dollars each totaling $10,000.00 dollars to donate equipment to the Humphrey Public Schools Welding program. Each year the Nebraska Section selects a welding program in their area to help purchase equipment to update their welding program or equipment to teach additional skills. Strobel Energy donated an electrode oven, and the funds were used to purchase a MillerMultimatic 220 with cart, Ellis Bandsaw, and weld wire. The instructor Robyn Graham said ” We are very grateful for the support and the new equipment. Greg Schroeter, director of QA/QC for Strobel Energy Group, of Clarks, said ” they are happy to help who, hopefully, will enter the workforce as welders”. In the words of Luke, Greg’s son, said “Mrs. Graham she was one heck of a welding teacher, and I still know thanks to her.” Representatives from the AWS, NECC, Matheson Gas, and Humphrey High discuss the welding classes offered, welding processes and skills being taught and how theses fit in the industry standards and preparing students for welding college, and the industry.
