The camp\u2019s theme, \u201cAvengers Quest,\u201d drew more than 200 enthusiastic<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">participants for a day of creativity, learning, and hands-on technical experiences.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Welding and Blacksmithing Station<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Representing the Mobile Section,<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Tim DeVargas<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, a welding instructor at Faulkner Career<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Technical Center in Mobile, helped lead the popular welding and blacksmithing portion of the<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">event. The extensive setup ensured that every Scout team had the opportunity to participate in<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">the metalworking activities.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Scouts, divided into small groups, rotated through a variety of superhero-themed challenges<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">throughout the day. These stations included:<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Operating a drone through an obstacle course<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Doctor Strange\u2013themed puzzle solving<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Virtual reality headset challenges<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Agility courses<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Hawkeye archery and rifle marksmanship<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The culminating metalworking challenge:<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Fabricating Thor&#8217;s Hammer<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Forging Mjolnir: Hands-On Learning<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Under the direct guidance of Mr. DeVargas and Scout leaders<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Will Gates, Andrew Schellhase,<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Maclain Rigdon, and Shaun Small<\/span><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">, the Scouts learned basic welding safety and technique.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Blacksmithing:<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Scouts first worked with blacksmiths\u2014playing the role of the dwarf<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">brothers Brokkr and Sindri\u2014to forge the handle for their legendary hammer.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">\uf0b7<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Welding:<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Outfitted with personal protective equipment (PPE), the Scouts applied their<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">new skills. They successfully fabricated their own<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Thor\u2019s Hammer<\/span> <span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">by welding the forged<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">handle to a precut block of solid bar metal.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">The result was a substantial, Avengers-worthy creation that each team proudly completed.<\/span><br role=\"presentation\" \/><span dir=\"ltr\" role=\"presentation\">Thank You to Our
