Event Summary:\u00a0<\/strong>On May 8th the Los Angeles\/Inland Empire and Long Beach\/Orange County Sections held an annual technical meeting and welding competition at Rio Hondo College in Whittier, CA. The event included LA\/IE Section elections, industry exhibitors, a basic skills workshop, and welding competitions. Approximately 200 attendees participated and the event was supported by representatives from City of Anaheim Public Works, Union Ironworkers, Union Carpenters, Airgas, Miller, Stalwart Tool Company, Diploy, and others. Miller provided robotics and laser welding demonstrations and Rio Hondo College sponsored welding helmet and gear prizes for the SMAW, GMAW, and simulator welding competitors. Bryan Valenzuela, Julian Becerra, and Eric Quijano won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the GMAW competition; Carlos Tahuado, Mamoe Naosusuga, and Alexis Barron won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the SMAW competition; and Jorge Mier, Carlos Tahuado, and Kevin Ramirez won 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the welding simulator competition. The LA\/IE Leadership Team would like to say a huge thank you to LB\/OC Section Leadership, the Rio Hondo College Career and Workforce Education Division Team, event exhibitors, and the volunteer welding competition judges, these events are only possible with generous support from the local welding community!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
