Recap: Lehigh Valley Sections-AWS Student Welding Competition

Event Summary: The Lehigh Valley section held their 53rd annual student welding competition at Lehigh Career & Technical Institute. 20 students from 10 CTE schools worked from blueprints and WPS’s to complete four unique projects utilizing SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW and OFC. Judging was performed by industry experts from Schlosser Steel, WTTI, Fronti Fabrication and East Penn Manufacturing.

A combination of the projects the students had to weld. The main project consisted of a tube to plate with gussets and cap plate as well as a stainless 2" schedule 10 pipe to the main plate.
