Date of Event: 05/12/2025

Location: Lehigh Career & Technical Institute, Schnecksville PA

Number of Attendees: 60 through the course of the day.

Presenter/Notable Guest(s): Frank Rupp, Airgas technical associate

Event Summary: Frank and Bernie of Airgas offered to come into LCTI to speak with the students on career paths as well as the effects of different shielding gases and available transfer modes for the GMAW process. After the students welded a t-joint with one side using 75/25 and the other side using a 92/8 blend, the t-joint was cut and Frank and Bernie acid etched the specimens for the students to keep. The etching provided students with a visual of the depth of fusion/penetration that the two different gas blends provided.
