Dear AWS Kern Section 170 Members,
As Chair of the Kern Section, I’m excited to invite you to join us on Saturday, March 7, 2026, for the Regional Occupational Center’s Industrial Trades Skills Competition (ITSC) Day.
This event is one of the most meaningful opportunities we have to show up for the next generation of welders and skilled trades professionals.
Last year, many of you helped make the competition an incredible experience for the students. This year is shaping up to be even bigger—more competitions, more students, and even more energy in the shop. ROC’s Culinary Arts program will also be serving lunch: slow cooked pulled pork sandwiches with all the fixings.
AWS Kern Section 170 will have a booth on-site to share information about AWS membership, certifications, scholarships, and local section activities. I would love for our members to be present, not only to support the competitors, but to help represent the welding community and AWS.
You’ll find the sign up link below, which includes opportunities for judging, prize donations, and volunteer support. A short video recap from last year is also included so you can get a glimpse of what the day looks like. The flyer outlines all competition categories that will be represented.
Whether you want to judge, volunteer, donate, or simply come out to cheer on the students and see their finished work, your presence makes a real impact. All donations will receive a letter of acknowledgment along with KHSD’s tax ID number for write off purposes.
