Online Section Meeting Notice<\/strong>
Tuesday, July 14th, 2020<\/h2>

Hello Everyone,<\/p>

It has been an interesting year for sure and our section activities have been somewhat shaken up by Covid-19. We have missed out on meeting together, our annual welding contest, and officer elections. Though things are different, the interest in getting together to talk about our trade and interact with each other still exists.<\/p>

I would like to invite you to get together on the 14th of July at 6:30 PM for a Zoom meeting for just some general conversation about what you would like to see this year in our section.<\/p>

Additionally, since we did not have an opportunity to elect new officers and committee members this past spring, we will hear any members that oppose us going forward with officers as they are right now. The only change intended will be to add a new secretary. David Nelson (Komatsu Mining) who has expressed interest in serving the section. He will become the new section secretary.<\/p>

If you are interested in serving the section in the future, please let a Section Officer know.<\/p>

Another topic which is sad to announce, is that Jon Cookson will be leaving the area after retirement. Jon has been a very active member of our section over the years and has diligently served this section and the welding community with zeal and professionalism. He has been a tremendous asset to our section and to the AWS Student Sections he has been involved with. Jon, you will be missed but always feel free to join us any time!<\/p>

I would like to thank all of you for your continued membership and I look forward to meeting more of you this coming year. We will continue to follow the recommendations of local jurisdictions regarding gathering but hopefully things will get a little better.<\/p>

If you have never attended an online meeting, this will be a good opportunity!<\/p>
