Recap: AWS Greater Huntsville Section Supports Student Career Pathways at Hartselle High School

Event Summary: The Greater Huntsville Section of the American Welding Society partnered with Calhoun Community College to support the Fifth Annual Finding Your Future Career Fair at Hartselle High School, where Section Chair Jose Rivera-Cruz and Section Treasurer Zebulon Ferguson engaged students and parents on the wide range of opportunities available in welding and advanced manufacturing. Through an interactive booth featuring welding samples, technical displays, and career information, the team advised attendees on education pathways, certification routes, industry demand, and earning potential across sectors such as aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial fabrication, while also highlighting how AWS student membership, certifications, scholarships, and competitions can accelerate professional growth. The joint outreach effort connected secondary students with both industry and academic resources, reinforcing the importance of early career exploration and demonstrating how collaboration between AWS local sections and community colleges strengthens the regional skilled-trades workforce pipeline.
