EASTERN IOWA SECTION ANNOUNCEMENT<\/h1>

Save the Date: May 20<\/strong><\/p>

2026 American Welding Society Eastern Iowa Section and Eastern Iowa Community College Welding Competition<\/p>

Eastern Iowa Community Colleges (EICC) and American Welding Society (AWS) Eastern Iowa Section 162 are proud to present the 2026 Welding Competition.<\/p>

The competition will take place on\u00a0Wednesday, May 20 from 9AM – 2PM.\u00a0Local high school and college students are invited to compete for a chance to win welding gear and AWS scholarships!<\/p>

Students can choose to enter in one of the following welding processes:
\u22b2 Gas metal arc welding (GMAW)
\u22b2 Shielded metal arc welding (SMAW)
\u22b2 Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW)<\/p>

Contestants and visitors will have the opportunity to meet with reps from local businesses and explore career options.<\/p>

Student registration will be announced through the AWS Sections mailing list on\u00a0Monday, March 23\u00a0and\u00a0spots are limited to 54 contestants. Online pre-registration is mandatory and first-come, first-served.\u00a0<\/p>
