Happy New Year to our members. Well, this Covid thing is hanging on much long that any of us wanted or expected. We are still planning to have a couple of interesting plant tours, but we will will have to wait a bit due to the omicron variant. Who knows when we\u2019ll be able to have live, in-person meetings again! So, to keep our section active, we plan to hold another Zoom presentation. We missed the second week in January, our normal meeting night, so how does February 8th sound? Since the response is unanimous, February 8th is the date. 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM will be the time of the presentation hosted by Miami, so don\u2019t lose the link you get with this notice.<\/p>

Now, for a subject that will be interesting and educational. How many times have you had someone ask the question, \u201cCan you weld this?\u201d We\u2019ve all heard that question more than once.<\/p>

Can You Weld This?<\/h3>

What information is needed before responding with, \u201cHeck yea, I can weld that. I can weld anything except the crack of dawn or a broken heart!\u201d and actually mean it. That is the subject of this presentation. What information should be gathered to make an informed decision on how to weld \u201cit\u201d correctly. We aren\u2019t going to approach this as another \u201cFarm Code Project\u201d where metric is how long did it last before \u201cit\u201d broke again. No, instead, we\u2019re going to do it right.<\/p>

The Speaker:<\/strong><\/p>

Sorry folks, you\u2019re stuck with Al Moore, your Chairperson, once again. Most of you know him, but for those one or two people that don\u2019t:<\/p>

Albert is a Senior Certified Welding Inspector and SNT-TC-1A Level III in five NDE methods. He\u2019s been a certified welding inspector since 1981 and Level III since 1995.<\/p>

He has degrees from Hartford State Technical College, Charter Oak College, and Rensselaer Polytechnical University. Even Ohio State University awarded him a Certificate of Professional Development from the Department of Welding Engineering.<\/p>

Al is a retired member (something around 50-years) of Ironworkers Local #15, Hartford, CT. He has been providing inspection and consulting services since 1989. For eight years he was an instructor for the AWS CWI Seminars. He is an Adjunct Instructor for American Society of Mechanical Engineers for the last quarter century. Much of his 40-years as a consult revolves around NAVSEA welding standards.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/div><\/div><\/div>
