Section Meeting on October 14 - Tour and Presentation at National Board
About This Event
The National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors has been the backbone of pressure equipment safety in North America since 1919. If you’ve ever wondered what happens inside that campus on Crupper Avenue, this is your chance to find out. The evening includes a tour of the National Board Training Center — you will see many types of boilers and pressure vessels up close — following a presentation from someone who has spent a career at the intersection of welding, quality, and inspection.
Featured Speaker
Mike Pischke — Assistant Executive Director-Administrative, National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors Mike will present “The National Board: A History of Inspection.” His career path is worth noting: he started as a welder after training at the Hobart Institute of Welding Technology, qualified as an ASME pipe welder in nuclear and pressure vessel work, then went back to school full time for a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering and an M.S. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota. He went on to QA/QC and quality management roles at Tampella Power, Alfa Laval, and Alstom Power (GE) before landing at the National Board, where he also serves as Chairman of the ASME Section IX Committee. Expect a presentation grounded in real experience from shop floor to executive office.
