Two very interesting presentations:
1. Application of video camera for monitoring quality of manual arc welding (SMAW) by Donald Ellington – Department Chair, Assistant Professor Welding Technology at Guilford Technical Community College. Great tool for teaching, training and evaluation of the quality of the welder’s work
2. Comparison of different systems of Standardisation in Welding Industry : US vs EU vs South Asia. Informal and brilliant presentation by Vice-Chair of our section Walter Sperko PE (Sperko Engineering), who shared his knowledge of functioning and interaction of National standards and ISO.

We appreciate attendance at our meeting of Director of AWS District #4, Mr. Stuart Harris. He shared information about upcoming regional conference and AWS plans. AWS Carolina (#87) Section awards were handed out to our most active members:

The next meeting of AWS Carolina Section (#87) will take place on April 13, Thursday at 5:00pm at GTCC. The meeting location is the GTCC Medlin Campus Center, room number TBD. Click HERE to view the campus map.

1.1. State of the Welding Industry in South Asia (Japan, S.Korea).
Brief, informal notes and impressions from vice-Chair of our section Walter Sperko, who just came back from business trip to S.Asia.
