Burley has a population of about 10,000 and yes, I am very familiar with the ever famous Idaho Russet Potatoes. In 1986 I Graduated with an Associate's Degree in Diesel Electric at Idaho State University. My first job out of college was in Alameda, CA. I joined a company called Westline Industries. Here I learned electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair of welding equipment and AC generators. In 1989 I accepted a position with a small independent welding supply company called County Welding Supply. With County Supply, I worked in outside sales, repaired welding equipment, installed and repaired cryogenic and gas delivery systems and installed and trained our customers on new welding and cutting equipment. County Welding Supply was purchased by the large global gas and cryogenic supplier, Air Products and Chemicals. With Air Products I expanded my role in the gas, cryogenic systems and sales fields. After a short three years, Air Products and Chemicals sold their entire packaged gas division to Airgas.I continue to work for the Airgas NCN division here in the Bay Area today. With Airgas I stepped fully into outside sales in the Oakland territory. I managed the Oakland Territory for four years and spent one year in our Dublin Territory. I now work in a new position called Construction Specialist. I work with many of our outside sales reps to strengthen our presence and grow sales in the construction market. I still am pulled back into my old skill set when the emergency arises, I just don't advertise that I can do those things as much as I once did. I truly enjoy the welding supply industry. My first boss, Mike Jones, told me, 'Once you take a job in this industry, you will never get out. The knowledge you gain is so specialized, it is hard to take it somewhere else, and the job is so fast paced that any other job will bore you to tears.' Well, I am still here." ********Important!!****** RSVP Banquet Policy We need to conduct our meetings on an RSVP basis to protect the Section from losses.
