AWS San Antonio Section
Scholarships
Scholarship Information
The Board of Directors of
the AWS San
Antonio Section takes great pride in providing scholarships.
The purpose of these scholarships is to provide financial assistance to individuals interested in pursuing
a welding or welding related career. The scholarship is available to the recipient to use as needed over
their
course of study at an institution within the AWS San Antonio Section geographic area.
San Antonio Section scholarships are named in honor of
the following distinguished members of the
American Welding Society.
The Lawrence F. Schenk
Scholarship
AWS Gold Member, San Antonio Section
Past Chairman & Board Member Emeritus
This award honors the dedication and commitment of Lawrence F. Schenk to education and welding
career advancement.
The Al Marin Scholarship
AWS Lifetime Member, San Antonio Section Past Chairman & Board Member Emeritus
This award honors the dedication and commitment of Al Marin to education and welding career
advancement.

following scholarship recipient.
The recipient of the Lawrence Schenk & Al Marin scholarships for 2008 is Cornelio
Ontiveros. Cornelio is
attending St. Philip's College in San Antonio, Texas.

elected State President for the Texas SkillsUSA
College/postsecondary division. He lead the Texas
delegation
to the SkillsUSA national conference held in Kansas City, Missouri.

Division
The Texas SkillsUSA welding
competition for the College/postsecondary division is held yearly at
St.
Philip's College in San Antonio.
