| First I would like to let everyone know that the American Welding Society has lost 3 very dedicated members this summer. Jack Heikkinen, Mark Sandvig and Ron Leonzal have all passed away recently. All three were very involved in their sections for many years. Jack and Ron both were Life Members and served as District Director for a six-year period. Please keep their families in your thoughts and prayers. |
| As I looked through the year-end reports for the 3 sections that had to turn them in, I noticed that no one was nominated for a District Directors Award. I know for a fact that some people put forth great effort to keep their sections operating. These tasks should not go unnoticed. I want to encourage section chairs to use these awards as a way to recognize the efforts of their members. There are several awards listed on the AWS website that can apply to someone in your section. |
| Within the next month or so I plan on launching a District web site. This will be a place for AWS news, upcoming events and for the 4 sections to announce any activities they wish to. It will be linked at AWS.org. Just drop me an e-mail if you have something you want posted. |
| Most sections are well on their way for the year. There will be some great events to attend. I know that the Saskatoon section has 2 technical seminars on the way soon. The Arrowhead section has a tour scheduled. Northwest is hosting a informational meeting on Hexavalent Chromium in November. Please let me know if you what information on any other sections events. |
