Rules & Regulations

  1. Participants and Eligibility:  This will be an individual tournament open to the public. All minors (16 yrs. or younger) must have a written consent from their parents or guardian before being eligible to fish.
  2. Registration: The entry fee will be $25.00 per person. There will be an optional Calcutta of $5.00 per person for the heaviest 5 fish stringer in each species. Pre-registration is encouraged. Mail registrations to below listed address. Registrations at the landing will be taken between 5:00 and 6:00 A.M. the morning of the tournament. The entry fee includes food, refreshments and music.
  3. Entry Fee Breakdown:  40% of the entry fee will go to the AWS Scholarship Fund, 10% will go to rodeo expenses and 50% will be returned as prize money. The prize money will be split equally between each species.
  4. Optional Calcutta:  The optional Calcutta will be split 50/50.50% for redfish and 50% for speckled trout. Individuals in the same boat may combine their fish for the Calcutta competition. The 5 largest fish per boat in each category will determine the calcutta winner. There will only be one winner in each category. Participants are responsible for selecting the 5 fish they want to weigh.
  5. Safety: All boats must meet Coast Guard Regulations. Any violation of Coast Guard Regulations will result in automatic disqualification. Life vests must be worn while motor is in operation.
  6. Sportsmanship:  Competitors are expected to follow high standards of sportsmanship, courtesy and safety. No alcoholic beverages may be consumed or be in the boat during tournament hours.
  7. Tackle and Equipment: Rod & Reel and artificial or live bait may be used.
  8. Scoring:  Scoring will be determined by the largest fish in each category. Number of places paid in each category will be determined by the number of entries in the rodeo. Maximum length on Redfish will be 27".
            1.   Up to 50 entrants: 3 places per category
                51 to 75 entrants: 4 places per category
                76 and over: 5 places per category.
  9. Fish Regulations:  All fish weighed must meet Wildlife & Fisheries size regulations. Any fish weighed that does not meet regulations will be disqualified All decisions by the weighmaster are final.
  10. Protests: Any protest must be submitted to the tournament committee no later than 15 minutes after the close of the scales. The time the scales close will be determined by the weighmaster.
  11. Tournament Hours: Tournament fishing time will be from 6:30A.M. to 2:30P.M. on May 4th, 2002. No fish may be caught prior to tournament fishing time. Entrants will be required to check in prior to leaving the landing and check in upon returning to the landing. Any participant not checked in by 2:30 P.M. will be disqualified. There will be no grace period.

In signing this application I hereby release and hold harmless the American Welding  Society, it officers, agents, organizers and sponsors from all claims, injuries and or damages that I or my equipment may sustain by reason of participating in or in connection with this tournament.
