2009 Student Welding Competition
This year's event was another great
success. The students did a great job. We had 32 in all
competing for prize money and scholarship money. Total prize money for
the students were $3,000.00. Our instructor winner recieived
$100.00 and keeps the plaque at his office until next years's
event. Special Thanks to New Orleans Pipe Trades for Hosting this
event and cooking for this event.

on 3/8" plate. The plates were judged by the New Orleans Section CWI's.

This is the Advanced Class, they welded a 3G on 3/8" plate. The
weld was graded by CWI's on the root and cap appearance.

welded in the 4G position on 3/8" plate, their weld was also judged by
current CWI's. Chris is a past two time winner in the Student Division,
he is now an instructor at NOPT.
