Final Schedule - AWS Section MeetingThursday, February 24, 2005, Idaho Falls, IdahoThe February 2005 meeting will include a tour of Idaho Laboratory Corporation and a dinner meeting with a technical presentation on fumes and gases in the welding environment. 5:00 PM – Tour of Idaho Laboratory, 2101 Hemmert Ave., Idaho Falls, ID. The laboratory designs and fabricates a wide variety of thermocouples and cables for traditional and specialty applications. The laboratory provides nondestructive testing including x-ray, dye penetrant, and helium leak testing as well as metallographic services and testing. 6:15 PM – Dinner at the China Super Buffet-888 E. 17th Street, Idaho Falls Denis Clark, Idaho National Laboratory research scientist and long-time AWS member, will give a presentation on fumes and gases in the welding environment. The talk will include a survey of the current knowledge of the measurement and health effects of welding fumes and gases, the current regulatory and legal environment, and practical steps people can take to become aware of the risks and reduce their exposure. Denis has been member of the AWS Subcommittee on Fumes and Gases (SH1) for six years and is currently its Chair, and is scheduled to become Chair of the AWS SHC Safety and Health Committee (SHC) in June 2005. Broadway until you reach Yellowstone Ave; turn left on Yellowstone and drive for approximately 2 miles; you go through stop lights near Fred Meyers; immediately start looking for Hemmert Ave and turn left.
